Organizing Myself

To begin actually learning dances I first had to organize my schedule and the dances I was going to learn since I had busy schedule. So, I made an outline of the month, and wrote the total free time I would have per day inside each box (which can be seen on the bottom). I then decided what dances I wanted to learn, and wrote the approximate amount of time it would take to learn them. This way I was able to decide when I would be able to dance without falling behind in school.

This is the plan I made to organize dances into my month.

Starting off on the Right Foot

To make sure I was starting in a way that wouldn't be too hard for me I sought out a friend in the dance team. I asked her where would be the right place to start, and she recommended learning the choreography the dance team performed at the pep rally, and helped me learn it. I then need 2 dances for me to be able consistently learn 3 dances each month, and have 20 by the end of the school year. For the other 2 dances I found fairly easy choreographies online that were performed by K-POP groups. I also verified if these 2 dances had tutorials online for me to learn off of. After, identifying the dances I was ready to start learning!

Beginning to Dance

The process of dancing finally began. I started by learning the dance the dance team performed, and the process was different from what I had thought. To begin with the time I had estimated for me to learn the dance was wrong. It took a lot more time than I had anticipated since the learning needs to be spaced, and I had to practice everyday. After learning the whole dance I also had to clean the dance so it didn't look sloppy, which took even more time than learning the dance. This completely threw off my October plan. However, I finished learning the first dance in one week, which was the second week of October since I started late.

I then started learning Go Go by BTS, which was my second dance. While learning this I realized learning an online video very hard, (especially since the tutorial was on a small screen in a big room). I also learnt Go Go in one week, and was pretty proud of my progress. Then came the week of all tests, and that was the end of my smooth sailing. To begin with, in the free time I had I didn't feel like dancing, and just wanted to watch TV shows.

So, I ended up procrastinating the last dance until the 30th of October and panicked. Even though I was panicking I still wasn't very motivated, so to motivate myself I came up with a plan to help which was to learn the dance with someone else. So I then involved my little sister, and made her learn with me so I would have more motivation, and surprisingly finished by the 31st of October!

The overall month was a great start for my quest, and excited me for the coming months. I thoroughly enjoyed learning the dances, and watching myself actually able to move in a slightly similar way to amazing dancers. I hope I am able to improve in the coming months, so keep on the lookout for my progress!
